Debatable yet the most agreeable heaven in India is Himachal Pradesh, filled with raw beauty yet so close to the major city livelihood. And the most talked place amongst the beauty of Himachal is Kasol and tagged along is the trek to Kheerganga. Enchanting, yet filled with controversies but undoubtedly the heart throb for most city escapists, this is a must tour or adventure which calls for all kind of people from different background and ages. Talking about Kheerganga Trek, which is situated in the Parvati valley of Himachal Pradesh offering a magical journey between the woods and wildlife and the USP of this place is the natural sulfur hot spring. This will be the most enchanting trip for any beginner trekking enthusiasts and the best part, that it’s not at all pocket pinching.
Day 1: Arrival at Kasol from Chandigarh Airport/Bhuntar Airport
Nearest airport to Kasol is Bhuntar airport in Kullu which is approximately 31kms from Kasol. But this Bhuntar airport connects to only three other cities, Shimla, Pathankot and Delhi. Someone from our side will be present there to pick you up for the destination. But if you choose to travel from Chandigarh airport which is approximately 288kms from Kasol, someone from our side will also be present there but to cover up that journey from airport to Kasol via road will take quite some time approximately 7-8 hrs when travelling via car and with a proper rest in between. You’ll be reaching the spot by afternoon if you’ve taken an early morning flight or else the drive would usually start at night and by the early morning next day you would be reaching Kasol. Check-in to the hotels will be as per the flight schedule. In the evening you can go for local sightseeing and later come back for warm yourself by the bonfire and get all cozy and lighten up with some music.
Day 2: Kheerganga Trek
Trek usually starts in the early morning and you’ll have to reach the spot well on time. The trek will begin after a light breakfast, and it is advisable to carry some munchies in the trek and carry ample amount of chocolate and toffee. It’s a 12 km trek (one side) which usually takes 4.5-5hrs to complete. This trek will be equally eye pleasing and breath taking. It will make you understand how majestic the nature of the Himalayas is yet how humble. There will be quite a few places to halt and take a good look during this trek, which includes, a Shiva Temple, fascinating rock genesis, and RudraNaag Waterfall. Evening will be a relaxing one around the bonfire with a casual stroll around the camp after dinner.
Day 3: Return to base camp/Kasol
Today is the most exciting part where immediately after breakfast you soak your soul in the hot water spring, the most rejuvenating moment of the trip. Similar 12 kms descent will begin and we all know that the downhill trek usually takes lesser time, around 4-4.5hrs. And it is during this descent you’ll fell and see the gorgeousness of this lush green mountains engulfed by the forest. Within afternoon you’ll be reaching your basecamp, Kasol, where you can explore the local market again and then by evening you can leave for airport marking the end of the adventure.
